Surveys by Decima Research, the Environics Research Group, Ipsos Reid and others show clearly that Canadians love their arts. Almost 80 percent of Canadians attend at least one live performance or arts event each year, and a full third believe the availability of arts and culture is a major contributing factor to the quality of life in their communities.
In addition, 15% of Canadians specifically prefer "innovative" or "avant-garde" styles of art. In Calgary, that's 150,000 people. If you think it might be beneficial for your organization to be associated with concepts like "innovation", you may have just found your donation vehicle.
And according to Decima Research, 86% of Canadians agreed that "artists need more opportunities to bring their work to the public". High-school and university instructors bring classes to see the work and financial supporters from all levels of government have sought to sustain the artistic direction and the management practices of Sage Theatre.
